朱棣文 Steven Chu
Secretary of Energy, 能源部長
Steven Chu, Ph.D., born 1948 in St. Louis, MO, is an American physicist and currently the 12th United States Secretary of Energy. As a scientist, Chu is known for his research in cooling and trapping of atoms with laser light, which won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1997. At the time of his appointment as Energy Secretary, he was a professor of physics and molecular and cellular biology at the University of California, Berkeley and the director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where his research was concerned primarily with the study of biological systems at the single molecule level. He is a vocal advocate for more research into alternative energy and nuclear power, arguing that a shift away from fossil fuels is essential to combat global warming.
Chu, a Chinese American, graduated from Garden City High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1970 from the University of Rochester, and his doctorate degree from University of California, Berkeley in 1976, during which he was supported by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
In 1997, he married Jean Fetter, a British American and an Oxford-trained physicist. He has two sons, Geoffrey and Michael, from a previous marriage to Lisa Chu-Thielbar.

駱家輝 Gary Locke

Gary Faye Locke, born 1950 in Seattle, WA. He is the current United States Secretary of Commerce and was the 21st Governor of Washington, serving from 1997 to 2005. Locke was the first, and remains the only, Chinese American to serve as governor of a state in United States history.
Locke is a third-generation American with paternal ancestry from Taishan, Guangdong in China, Locke is the second of five children of James, a native of the United States, and Julie Locke from Hong Kong, which at that time was a dependent territory of the United Kingdom.
He graduated with honors from Seattle’s Franklin High School in 1968. Locke achieved Eagle Scout and received the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America.
Through a combination of part-time jobs, financial aid and scholarships, Locke attended Yale University, earning a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1972. He then earned a law degree from the Boston University School of Law in 1975.
On October 15, 1994, Locke married Mona Lee, a former television reporter for the NBC affiliate KING 5 television in Seattle. Her father was from Shanghai, China and her mother from Hubei, China. The Lockes have three children: Emily Nicole, born in March 1997, Dylan James, born in March 1999 and Madeline Lee, born in November 2004

李碩 Daniel K Akaka
US Senator, 國會參議員
Daniel Kahikina Akaka, born 1924 in Honolulu, is the junior U.S. Senator from Hawaii and a member of the Democratic Party. He is the first U.S. Senator of Native Hawaiian ancestry and is currently the only Chinese American member of the Senate.
His parents are Annie Kahoa and Kahikina Akaka. He entered the military immediately after high school graduation, serving from 1943 to 1947. During World War II he
served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He worked as a welder and a mechanic and spent his final months of the war as a first mate on the vessel Morning Star.
He earned a Bachelor of Education in 1952 from the University of Hawaii. He later received a Master of Education from the same school in 1966. He worked as a high school teacher in Honolulu from 1953 until 1960, when he was then hired as a vice principal. In 1963, he became head principal. In 1969, he was hired by the Department of Education as a chief program planner. Akaka then continued working in government, holding positions as director of the Hawaii Office of Economic Opportunity, human resources assistant for state Governor George Ariyoshi, and director of the Progressive Neighborhoods Program.
Akaka was first elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1976 to represent Hawaii's Second Congressional District. He won seven consecutive elections by wide margins. Akaka was appointed by Governor John Waihee to the U.S. Senate in April 1990 to serve temporarily after the death of Senator Spark Matsunaga (who died that month), and sworn into office on May 16, 1990. In November of the same year, he was elected to complete the remaining four years of Matsunaga's unexpired term. He was re-elected in 1994 for a full term, and again in 2000.
Akaka is married to Mary Mildred "Millie" Chong; they have five children (four sons and a daughter), 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

吳振偉 David Wu

David Wu is a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives for Oregon, As an ethnic Han Chinese from Taiwan, Wu is the first Chinese American and the first Taiwanese American member of the House of Representatives.
Wu was born in Hsinchu, Taiwan to mainland Chinese parents who had settled in Taiwan due to the Chinese Civil War and in the United States with his family in 1961.He spent his first two years in the U.S. in Latham, New York where his family were the only Asian Americans in town.
Wu received a bachelor of science degree from Stanford University in 1977, and attended Harvard Medical School, but dropped out. Instead, Wu received a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School in 1982. He is married to Michelle Wu, and has one son, Matthew, and a daughter, Sarah.
Prior to being elected a U.S. Representative, Wu served as a clerk for a federal judge and co-founded a law firm, Cohen & Wu, which primarily served the high tech sector in Oregon's "Silicon Forest."
Wu was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1998, and began serving in 1999 with the 106th Congress.
He won re-election in 2000, 2004, 2006, and in 2008 with no Republican candidate running, he captured 71% of the vote to win a sixth term over four minor party candidates.
He is a member of the Executive Board for the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus and served as Chair from January 2001 to January 2004. He is also a member of the New Democrat Coalition (NDC), a group of moderate Democrats in the House.

趙美心 Judy Chu

Judy Chu won the special election in July 2009 for the United States Representativefor California's 32nd congressional district, and the first Chinese-American woman ever elected to the U.S. Congress.
Judy was elected to the California State Board of Equalization in November 2006. Before joining the State Board of Equalization, Dr. Chu served three terms as a State Assembly Member from 2001 to 2006.
Prior to the State Assembly, Dr. Chu served on the Monterey Park City Council for thirteen years from 1988 to 2001, and served as Mayor three times. She began her career in public service as a Board Member of the Garvey School District from 1985 to 1988. Dr. Chu has been dedicated to education for decades, and was a community college professor of psychology for 20 years. She holds a Ph.D. in psychology and a B.A. in mathematics.

鄺友良Hiram Leong Fong - 美國第一位華裔民選官員

Hiram Leong Fong, formally Yau Leong Fong (1906 – 2004), was an American businessman and politician from Hawaii. He is most notable for his service as Republican United States Senator from 1959 to 1977, and for being the first Asian American and Chinese American to be elected as such. In 1964, Fong became the first Asian American to run for his party's nomination for President of the United States. As of 2008, he is the only Republican to ever hold
a Senate seat from Hawaii and the only
Asian American to actively seek the
Presidential nomination of the Republican Party.
Fong was born in the Honolulu neighborhood of Kalihi. He graduated from President William McKinley High School in 1924. In 1930, Fong obtained a degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and in 1935 obtained a law degree from Harvard University. He returned to Honolulu and worked in the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of Honolulu. In 1938, Fong went into private legal practice.
The same year he founded his law office, Fong entered elected political life as a member of the Hawaii Territorial House of Representatives where he became Speaker of the House from 1948 to 1954. During this time, he was one of the front most leaders in the fight to make Hawaii a state. He was forced into retirement when the Democratic Party of Hawaii successfully ended a Hawaii Republican Party stronghold over the territorial legislature by voting most Republican incumbents out of office.
Upon achieving statehood through the Admission Act of 1959, Hawaii returned Fong to elected office becoming one of its first US Senators.
After his retirement, Fong and his wife managed a 725 acre garden that was opened to the public in 1988. It was noted that he worked in the garden until a week before his death. Fong was a Congregationalist in religion.

吳仙標 S B Woo

Shien Biau "S.B." Woo, born 1937 in Shanghai, is an American professor and politician from Newark, in New Castle County, Delaware. He is a former member of the Democratic Party, and served as Lieutenant Governor of Delaware from 1985-1989. Woo is a cofounder of the 80-20 Initiative and was its president.
Woo's ancestral hometown is Yuyao, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. He fled the communist revolution in 1949 with his parents, and came to the United States at the age of 18, from Hong Kong. He received undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Physics from Georgetown College in Kentucky and his Ph.D. in Physics from Washington University in St. Louis. In 1966 he joined the faculty of the University of Delaware, where he became a professor of physics and astronomy. He retired in 2002 after 36 years. His wife's name is Katy; they married in 1963, and have two children, Chi I. and Chi Lan.
In his first attempt at public office, Woo was elected Lieutenant Governor of Delaware in 1984. Woo thus became the highest ranking Chinese American public office holder in the nation, and served one term from January 15, 1985 until January 20, 1989.
In 1988, Woo ran for US Senate but lost the general election to the incumbent Republican. Likewise, in 1992, he ran for the U.S. House, but lost again.
Woo is a leader in the greater Chinese American community throughout the country, from whom his political activities dependably received strong financial backing. He is the past-president of the 80-20 Initiative, a group that attempts to organize Asian Pacific Americans (APAs) into a swing bloc-vote in presidential elections, intending to induce both major political parties to take the interests of the APA community into consideration. He also serves as a Trustee of the University of Delaware; an Institute Fellow at the Institute of Politics, the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

趙小蘭 Elaine Lan Chao

Elaine Lan Chao, born 1953 in Taipei, Taiwan, served as the 24th United States Secretary of Labor in the Cabinet of President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009. She was the first Chinese American and the first Asian American woman to be appointed to a President's cabinet in American history. Chao was the only cabinet member to serve under George W. Bush for his entire administration. She is married to U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell.
The eldest of six daughters, Chao was born in Taipei, to James S.C. Chao (趙錫成 ), a Shanghainese entrepreneur, and Ruth Mu-lan Chu (朱木蘭), a historian. Her parents had fled to Taiwan from mainland China after the Chinese Communists took over as a result of the Chinese Civil War in 1949. At the age of eight, Elaine Chao and her family emigrated to the United States. She attended Syosset High School on Long Island, NY.
Chao received her B.A. in Economics from Mount Holyoke College in 1975 and her MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1979. Chao also studied at MIT, Dartmouth College, and Columbia University. She is the recipient of 31 honorary doctoral degrees from colleges and universities around the world.
In 1986, Chao returned to Washington D.C. as Deputy Administrator of the Maritime Administration in the US Department of Transportation. From 1988 to 1989, she served as Chairwoman of the Federal Maritime Commission. In 1989, President George H. W. Bush nominated Chao to be Deputy Secretary of Transportation, the number two position in the department. From 1991 to 1992, Chao was Director of the Peace Corps. She was the first Asian American to serve in any of these positions. She expanded the Peace Corps's presence in Eastern Europe and Central Asia by establishing the first Peace Corps programs in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, and other newly independent states of the former Soviet Union.
Following her service in the government, Chao worked for four years as President and Chief Executive Officer of United Way of America. From 1996 until her appointment as Secretary of Labor, Chao was a Distinguished Fellow with the conservative Heritage Foundation, a Washington think tank.

March Kong Fong Eu, born 1922 in Oakdale, California, is an American politician of the Democratic Party. She earned a B.S. in dentistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 1943, an M.A. from Mills College, and a Ed.D. from Stanford University in 1954.
In 1966, Eu (then March K. Fong) was elected to the California State Assembly, representing Oakland and Castro Valley for four terms. She was elected California Secretary of State in 1974, the first Asian American woman ever elected to a state constitutional office
in the United States. Eu was the only female Secretary of State in California history until 2006, when voters elected Debra Bowen. Eu was elected Secretary of State five times. In 1978, she won every county in the state, even heavily Republican Orange County, one of only four Democrats to win the county in a statewide race in the last half century.
Eu was appointed U.S. Ambassador to Micronesia in 1994.
Her adopted son, Matt Fong, is a Republican who has served as California State Treasurer.
Eu lives in both Sacramento and Singapore; she lives with her second husband Henry Eu, a multimillionaire industrialist.

Julia Chang Bloch was an American diplomat, and the first U.S. ambassador of Asian origin.
She was born 1942 in China, and moved to the United States when she was nine. She grew up on San Francisco. She earned her BA from UC Berkeley in 1964 and a MA from Harvard University 1967, and entered the civil service. From 1971 she served as a staffer for the Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs, and thereafter in a number of other roles, including administering a food-aid program. She was appointed ambassador to Nepal by President George H. W. Bush in 1989, and served until 1993. In the late 1990s, she joined the United States-Japan Foundation.
Currently, Julia Chang Bloch is the President of the U.S.-China Education Trust, a program devoted to promoting American Studies in China. She is also the Ambassador-in-Residence at the University of Maryland-College Park Institute for Global Chinese Affairs — and the Starr Senior Fellow for U.S.-China Relations at Peking University in Beijing and Fudan University in Shanghai, China
