2. This is the best time to donate your flying tigers items if you still have any. Your items will have a much better chance to be displayed and may be next to General Channault. I was told that Anna Chennault would be donating all General Chennault's items to the Kunming Museum. There will be a separate building named after Flying Tigers General Chennault. Some people from Kunming are coming next January -April to Washington, DC, to pick up all stuff once Anna has finished putting Chennault’s things together.
3. I jokingly talked with Kunming Museum people that since you are going to have General Chennault’s stuff, you don’t need ours. They say they need anything they can get. They need all things and any thing of Flying Tigers that makes him the General. General without soldiers is not a General. They may have a point there. Please inform your comrades and friends about donating items and be sure to include your squadron name.
4.See attached pictures regarding Mayor of Kumning visiting Anna in Washington DC early this year.
5. From eBay, I have won over a life story and items of one of the original Flying Tigers pilots by the name of Robert Raine(s). Yes, it is expensive, but I was buying a piece of history and will share with you once I organized it together. These items will be donated to Kunming Museum through the Overseas Chinese Office in Guangzhou. They are coming next year at the end of March to pick them up.
6. In conclusion, if you want to donate any items, do it now. Send them to me and let them pick them up. This will give them plenty of time to put together a good exhibit when there is a celebration next year.
7. Both Zhijiang and Kunming will have a celebration for the 65th Anniversary of winning the war. It will be around October-November. Guys, get ready and go. Let me know if you are interested. Again, I am trying to get us on their invited and honored guests, especially for those who are donating Flying Tigers items. Think about it. What about making your next reunion in China for this memorable trip. As of now, I don’t have the exact date, but it will be around October-November. Will keep you informed later.
8. More on John Woo's upcoming film about the Flying Tigers in Yunnan. It will star Tom Cruise, reuniting the Mission: Impossible II director and star. In July, Hong Kong action director Woo signed on to direct the movie, which will be called Flying Tiger Heroes (????) in Chinese. With a projected budget of US$100 million, it will be the most expensive movie ever made in China. At the Beijing press conference where Woo was named director of the film project, it was announced that filming would begin before the end of this year. Woo said the film will contain the most spectacular aerial battle scenes ever seen in Chinese cinema.
